Bodyfarm: Demo 2010
09/08/10 || Trauma
The list and jokes about this bands name could go on and on if you really wanted to do so. BuddyFarm, BootTorn. Ambiguous enough to make it difficult to know what the fuck the band is called beforehand. Metal points +1. The important thing here, though, is whether or not the music is worth getting metal points. I mean, I’m struggling enough to make this review longer than three sentences.
I’m only kidding about struggling, but we’ll keep this short since this is only a demo:
Presented is a bloody and grimy slab of death metal, of the standard kind. It definitely sounds new, and sounds good. Innovate is a word that is intentionally removed from Encyclopedia Baldyfarm, so throwing curveballs is not going to happen. But there will be plenty of fastballs, if you catch my drift.
I dig the fuck out of the opening riff to “Bodyfarm”. It’s got the obligatory tempo changes up to the blasting with vocals. They do it well. “Final redemption” starts off with that bad-ass slow-riffing-over-double-bass that always generates the semen. There’s something about it. It is the highlight. Maybe I’m just special, but I seem to know where the lyrics for “Heartraped” came from. I seem to remember many words involving “fuck”, “bitch”, “whore”, “I have a weepy vagina”, and other similar words being thrown around at the time. “Slaves of war” is alright, quite alright, even. I was just maybe hoping for a stray from anything related to war. I know you’re not trying to be different, but for fucks sake.
As for the rest of the shit, vocals sound pretty good for a first-timer/pretty-boy. The mix is pretty good. Ok, I went on too long already. This is quality, and since it’s a demo I am much more friendly with the score. It’s worth a listen or more if you like death metal.
